It is with gratitude, that I write to you for your representative service to Mankind.

Ladies, Sirs,
I have joined a small group of citizens, with great concern for the Human Beings on Earth and for the Earth itself, to address you with a request of endorsement.

It is now clear, that the Greatest threat to Mankind and Earth comes from the Over-Population of Humans - as you so regularly and so comprehensively point it out in your works - , which is growing now at an exponential rate.

Please seriously consider the enclosed TO Earth Humans document.
This document is going forward to the US Ambassadors in every Nation, to President Obama, to Vice-President Biden, and to Secretary of State Clinton.
It will as well be forwarded to all countries and their gouvernments; to all major NGO's dealing with population and development; to influencal citizens and international figures, like Reverend Desmond Tutu, to retired exceptional senior leaders - through their foundations, like Mr Nelson Mandela, Mr. Al gore... - and other individuals, known for their commitment to global issues - Bono Box of U2, Bob Geldof, Angelina Joli...

"Famines affecting a billion people will threaten global food security during the 21st century, according to a leading US scientist.

Nina Fedoroff, the US State Department chief scientist, is convinced that food shortages will be the biggest challenge facing the world as temperatures and population levels rise. Food security in the coming years, she said, is “a huge problem” that has been met with little more than complacency. “We are asleep at the switch,” she said.
Her warning echoes comments by John Beddington, Britain’s chief scientist, last week in which he forecast a “perfect storm” of food, water and energy shortages by 2030.
Dr Fedoroff, who advises Hillary Clinton, said famines that strike a billion people are quite possible in a world where climate change has damaged food production and the human population has risen to nine billion.
Population levels have already exceeded seven billion and are expected to rise to nine billion by the middle of the century unless action is taken.”

A wise man once wrote, “ Planet Earth and it’s inhabitants are suffering from diverse ills caused singularly and exclusively by man himself. These already existing ills, however, will continue to proliferate until finally everything completely deteriorates.
The Earth’s population is plagued by famines, energy shortages, epidemics, environmental pollution, degeneration, terrorism, dictatorship, anarchism, slavery, excessive increase of waste materials, racial hatred, food shortages, destruction of rain forests, the “greenhouse effect”, pollution of lakes, streams and oceans, hatred towards asylum-seekers; radioactive emissions, chemical pollution of water, air, plants, food, human beings and animals.
In spite of many efforts, mankind’s problems are not decreasing but, instead, continue to rise steadily in direct proportion to population increases.
Mankind’s horrendous ills originate from and exist through overpopulation with its unrelenting, irresponsibly continuing escalation.
The situation dictates that any ill can only be fought and remedied by grasping it by its roots, ripping it out and destroying it: The numbers of terrestrial humankind must be drastically reduced.
The only humane method by which this reduction goal can be achieved, is through stringent birth control regulations that permit married couples, of a predetermined age, to have only a strictly specified number of children.”

A close and objective look reveals indeed that everything is connected:
Shortage of almost all first resources (drinking water, food, oil… other vital items) and the therefore resulting poverty, inequality, hunger, spiritual stagnation, despair... and subsequently crime, massive immigration, economic migration and ecological refugees, ‘hatred towards foreigners’, terrorism, wars... not to mention the destruction of the whole environment.

Earth needs to recover, natural resources need also time to renew themselves. We impede both by our own irresponsible actions.

Overpopulation is hence likely to become one of the most important and - perhaps - the most decisive questions and challenges in the coming times for the whole humanity.

We certainly need to break that taboo hanging above the topic of human reproduction, population, respecting overpopulation.
More emphasis must be put on the crucial role played by overpopulation in the current, deplorable state of our global affairs.

We indeed all know that everything needs management; ourselves and our number are not and can not be an exception.
Nothing is endless and all requires rational use, care and maintenance - including earth’s resources.
The shortages of clean water, food, minerals and other basic life’s items, pollution and the destruction of the environment are nowadays more obvious that never before.

We, Humans, and the ways we go about life, put too much stress on Earth.

We are doomed, unless we drastically change our ways of thinking, and doing; our days are counted, unless we truly understand and accept our responsibility, as leading species.

Ladies and Gentlemen at Earth Charter,

We definitely need a worldwide, democratic - valid for all individuals, social classes and nations - rational, responsible, scientific and rigorously monitored birth control.

Some, however, may say, “multiply yourself” is written in The Book.
Indeed: Genesis 1:22:
God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.”.

We shall argue, that reason, common sense are also given to us so that we can know, judge and decide when we ‘have multiplied enough’.

And again, the Commandment could as well be: “multiply yourself in and with wisdom, reason, knowledge, humaneness...” - besides, if we keep procreating the way we now do, there wouldn’t be much animals, fish, trees, “birds left on the earth”!

It‘s a shame that the governments of the countries, but also the political parties in general, as well as commerce cannot, or will not, acknowledge “the signs on the wall”, i.e. the overpopulation problem and the interconnected threat to our future, and therefore they do not grapple with at the root of the problem.

Additionally, the electorate (those who vote) are acting in a similarly disgraceful way when they elect these incompetent politicians to their offices. The few exceptions to the rule are really exceptions and almost have to be searched for with a magnifying glass.
And the fact that most of the so-called environmental protection organizations, as well as the main religions, shy away from becoming active and recognizing and clearly naming overpopulation as the main problem and multiplier/disseminator for the other big problems like famine, climate change, migration, wars, epidemics, criminality, etc., is extremely scandalous.

The suggested action for these politicians is to hit them “around the ears,” with concrete countermeasures for the whole of mankind, that have been under their noses for so long, until all governments wake up and begin to act in a concrete manner, and until the population number has decreased to a number that is digestible or compatible for our planet.
And this compatible size for the planet Earth ranges somewhere between half a billion and one billion people, because the optimal total population figures are dependent on the climate, the available resources and the fertile land etc., and this has to be definitively determined in due time.

Please, do endorse us and, most importantly, do advocate a rational, democratic and scientific world wide birth control at home and in those countries, you noble activities bring you to.
