Im lateinischen Ursprung handelte es sich beim Begriff Sequi resp. Sekte gemäss plejarischen Aufzeichnungen um eine aus der altlyranischen Sprache stammende neutrale Bezeichnung in bezug auf eine politische Richtung, und somit also um den Vorläuferbegriff dessen, was heute als politische Partei bezeichnet wird.
