When I recently improved my general knowledge about the Earth's atmosphere, I came to the latest findings about the exact composition of the Earth's atmosphere, namely that the layers of the atmosphere close to the ground have a fairly uniform composition up to an altitude of about 90 km, whereby this section is also called the homosphere. What is now referred to as 'effective air' consists – if one excludes the varying water vapour content, or rather the dry, water-vapour-free air, and does not take the atmosphere into account – of 78.084% nitrogen (N) by volume, whilst oxygen (O) accounts for just 20.946%. In addition, there is 0.934% argon (Ar) and also aerosols and trace gases, including carbon dioxide (~~CO<sub>2</sub>~~) with currently 0.04%, the most important cause of the greenhouse effect after water vapour. Then there is also methane gas (CH4) and ozone (O3), as well as chlorofluorocarbons, sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen compounds. It is clear from this, which I already knew from Sfath, that air is not the same as oxygen, because the Earth's atmosphere is a mixture of gases, including oxygen, which is effectively only 20.946%. And it is only because this oxygen content is around 21% that it is said that all life-forms on Earth are oxygen breathers. And it is also to be said that air – as Earthlings know it today – was not present on Earth from the beginning, because the formation of the air envelope took several billion years. At very early times – billions of years ago – the Earth was extremely hot, full of volcanic activity, steam, toxic vapours and smoke, which caused a wide variety of gases to rise from the Earth's interior and impregnate the developing atmosphere. However, this did not yet include oxygen, because as a rule it was made up of many other gases, such as carbon dioxide and above all water vapour. The Earth and also the gas envelope cooled down gradually, of course, and so the clouds formed from the water vapour, from which it rained for many centuries and millennia, and consequently all kinds of bodies of water, seas and oceans were formed from the torrential rain. Your father Sfath explained that at some point in time, small living creatures and also green plants developed in the shore sand of the waters, as well as in the waters themselves and in the seas and oceans, which were able to carry out photosynthesis or to produce oxygen from solar radiation and from carbon dioxide and water. Of course, this took millions and even billions of years, but it was successful and the oxygen was able to escape into the atmosphere or the air and spread. In the course of a very long time, the air was created in this way, and as a result of the oxygen atmosphere, living beings developed that were oxygen breathers, as all living beings on Earth still are today. The whole atmosphere or the air, Sfath explained, consists of innumerable individual, invisible gas particles as well as gaseous water particles, which are of such minimal weight that they float in the endlessly moving atmosphere without any problems and are not torn out into space or simply drift off into it due to the Earth's gravitational pull. Everything that has a weight, even if it is as small as gas, is attracted by the Earth's gravity and cannot escape it, so the Earth also holds the gases, even if each individual gas particle is as tiny as it is light, because if something has a weight, it weighs something, and this is then subject to the Earth's gravity, so the atmosphere or the air on the Earth is also held by this. The atmosphere, however, becomes thinner towards the outside or towards outer space, which is the outermost level of the planet in front of outer space. Consequently, the number and density of the gas or air particles decreases towards the outside and thus with the height, so that there are many more near the earth than, for example, in the mountains. 	\| Wie ihr, dein Vater Sfath und deine Tochter Semjase, wie auch du und Quetzal erklärt habt, wurde von Kometen und Asteroiden Wasser zur Erde gebracht, wobei jedoch auch auf der Erde selbst durch Kon-densationsvorgänge usw. Wasser entstanden ist. Sfath lehrte mich während meiner elfjährigen Lehrzeit bei ihm, dass wenn überhaupt auf einem Planeten oder auf anderen Weltenraumkörpern durch Konden-sationsvorgänge Wasser entstehen kann, erst einmal eine Atmosphäre resp. eine Lufthülle existieren muss. Je nach Planet oder sonstigem Weltraumkörper können dabei die Atmosphären völlig verschieden sein und also sowohl aus Methangas, sonstigen Gasen oder aus irgendwelchen Gasgemischen bestehen, die aber trotzdem als Lufthüllen bezeichnet werden. Auch die Erde hat eine solche Atmosphäre resp. Lufthülle, die griechisch ‹atmos› genannt wird (griech: ἀτμός, atmós ‹Dampf›, ‹Dunst›, ‹Hauch› und σφαῖρα, sphaira ‹Kugel›) und in Wirklichkeit nicht aus reinem Sauerstoff besteht, sondern aus einem Gasgemisch, das als gasförmige Hülle über der Erdoberfläche ist. Die Erdsphäre hat einen hohen Anteil an Stickstoff und einen weniger grossen Anteil an Sauerstoff und damit oxidierende Verhältnisse. Als ich kürzlich wieder einmal mein Allgemeinwissen etwas aufbesserte in bezug auf die Erdatmosphäre, gelangte ich zu den neuesten Erkenntnissen in bezug auf die genaue Zusammensetzung der Erdatmosphäre, so nämlich, dass die bodennahen Atmosphäre-Schichten bis in etwa 90 km Höhe eine recht gleichförmige Zusammensetzung aufweisen, wobei dieser Abschnitt auch Homosphäre genannt wird. Was nun als effective Luft bezeichnet wird, besteht – wenn der wechselnde Wasserdampfgehalt resp. die trockene, wasserdampffreie Luft, eben im Hauptsächlichen die Atmosphäre nicht mitgerechnet wird – in Volumenprozenten gerechnet aus 78,084% Stickstoff (N), während der Sauerstoff (O) nur gerade mal 20,946% ausmacht. Dazu kommen 0,934% Argon (Ar) und auch Aerosole und Spurengase, darunter Kohlenstoffdioxid (~~CO<sub>2</sub>~~) mit zurzeit 0,04%, nach Wasserdampf der wichtigste Verursacher des Treibhauseffekts. Dann sind auch Methangas (CH4) und Ozon (O3) zu nennen, wie auch Fluorchlorkohlenwasserstoffe, Schwefeldioxid (SO2) und Stickstoffverbindungen. Daraus geht klar hervor, was ich aber schon von Sfath her wusste, dass Luft nicht gleichbedeutend wie Sauerstoff ist, denn die Lufthülle resp. Atmosphäre der Erde ist ein Gasgemisch, zu dem unter anderem eben der Sauerstoff gehört, der effectiv nur 20,946% beträgt. Und nur weil dieser Sauerstoffgehalt rund 21% beträgt, wird gesagt, dass alle Lebensformen auf der Erde Sauerstoffatmer seien. Und zu sagen ist auch, dass die Luft – so, wie die Erdlinge sie heute kennen – nicht von Anfang an auf der Erde gegeben war, denn die Entstehung der Lufthülle hat mehrere Milliarden Jahre gedauert. Die Erde war zu sehr frühen Zeiten – eben vor Milliarden von Jahren – ungeheuer heiss, voller Vulkanismus, Dampf, Giftschwaden und Rauch, folglich aus dem Erdinnern die verschiedensten Gase aufstiegen und die entstehende Atmosphäre schwängerten. Dazu gehörte allerdings noch kein Sauerstoff, denn in der Regel waren es vielerlei andere Gase, wie z.B. Kohlenstoffdioxid und vor allem Wasserdampf. Die Erde und auch die Gashülle haben sich natürlich nach und nach abgekühlt, und so bildeten sich aus dem Wasserdampf die Wolken, aus denen es über viele Jahrhunderte und Jahrtausende geregnet hat, folgedem aus den sturzflutmässigen Regenwassern allerlei Gewässer, Meere und Ozeane entstanden sind. Dein Vater Sfath hat erklärt, dass sich im Ufersand der Gewässer, wie aber auch in diesen selbst sowie in Meeren und Ozeanen irgendwann kleine Lebewesen und auch grüne Pflanzen entwickelt haben, die fähig waren, Photosynthese zu betreiben resp. aus der Sonnenstrahlung sowie aus Kohlenstoffdioxid und Wasser Sauerstoff herzustellen. Das dauerte natürlich wieder Millionen und gar Milliarden Jahre, was aber Erfolg brachte und der Sauer stoff in die Atmosphäre resp. in die Luft entweichen und sich ausbreiten konnte. Im Lauf der sehr langen Zeit entstand also in dieser Weise die Luft, folglich sich durch das Zustandekommen der Sauerstoff-Atmosphäre dann auch Lebewesen entwickelten, die Sauerstoffatmer waren, wie dies alle Lebewesen auf der Erde noch heute sind. Die ganze Atmosphäre resp. die Luft, so erklärte Sfath, besteht aus unzählbaren einzelnen, unsichtbaren Gasteilchen sowie gasförmigen Wasserteilchen, die derart minimalgewichtig sind, dass sie problemlos in der sich endlos bewegenden Atmosphäre schweben und infolge der Erdanziehungskraft nicht in den Weltraum hinausgerissen werden oder einfach in diesen abtreiben. Alles nämlich, was ein Gewicht hat, und sei es noch so gering wie eben Gas, wird von der Erdanziehung angezogen und kann ihr nicht entweichen, folgedem die Erde auch die Gase festhält, auch wenn jedes einzelne Gasteilchen noch so winzig leicht ist, denn wenn etwas ein Gewicht hat, wiegt es ja etwas, und dieses unterliegt dann der Erdgravitation, folglich also durch diese auch die Atmosphäre resp. die Luft auf der Erde festgehalten wird. Die Atmosphäre wird aber nach aussen resp. gegen den Weltraum hin dünner, der ja die äusserste Ebene des Planeten vor dem Weltenraum ist, folglich nimmt die Anzahl und Dichte der Gas- resp. Luftteilchen nach aussen hin und damit mit der Höhe ab, folglich in Erdbodennähe sehr viele mehr sind als z.B. im Gebirge. In Erdnähe werden die Gas- resp. Luftteilchen, die sich höher oben befinden, immer dichter aneinandergedrängt, folgedem in tiefen Lagen mehr Sauerstoff angelagert ist. Die Atmosphäre wird aber nach aussen resp. gegen den Weltraum hin dünner, der ja die äusserste Ebene des Planeten vor dem Weltenraum ist, folglich nimmt die Anzahl und Dichte der Gas- resp. Luftteilchen nach aussen hin und damit mit der Höhe ab, folglich in Erdbodennähe sehr viele mehr sind als z.B. im Gebirge. In Erdnähe werden die Gas- resp. Luftteilchen, die sich höher oben befinden, immer dichter aneinandergedrängt, folgedem in tiefen Lagen mehr Sauerstoff angelagert ist. Dazu gehörte allerdings noch kein Sauerstoff, denn in der Regel waren es vielerlei andere Gase, wie z.B. Kohlenstoffdioxid und vor allem Wasserdampf. Die Erde und auch die Gashülle haben sich natürlich nach und nach abgekühlt, und so bildeten sich aus dem Wasserdampf die Wolken, aus denen es über viele Jahrhunderte und Jahrtausende geregnet hat, folgedem aus den sturzflutmässigen Regenwassern allerlei Gewässer, Meere und Ozeane entstanden sind. Dein Vater Sfath hat erklärt, dass sich im Ufersand der Gewässer, wie aber auch in diesen selbst sowie in Meeren und Ozeanen irgendwann kleine Lebewesen und auch grüne Pflanzen entwickelt haben, die fähig waren, Photosynthese zu betreiben resp. aus der Sonnenstrahlung sowie aus Kohlenstoffdioxid und Wasser Sauerstoff herzustellen. Das dauerte natürlich wieder Millionen und gar Milliarden Jahre, was aber Erfolg brachte und der Sauer stoff in die Atmosphäre resp. in die Luft entweichen und sich ausbreiten konnte. Im Lauf der sehr langen Zeit entstand also in dieser Weise die Luft, folglich sich durch das Zustandekommen der Sauerstoff-Atmosphäre dann auch Lebewesen entwickelten, die Sauerstoffatmer waren, wie dies alle Lebewesen auf der Erde noch heute sind. Die ganze Atmosphäre resp. die Luft, so erklärte Sfath, besteht aus unzählbaren einzelnen, unsichtbaren Gasteilchen sowie gasförmigen Wasserteilchen, die derart minimalgewichtig sind, dass sie problemlos in der sich endlos bewegenden Atmosphäre schweben und infolge der Erdanziehungskraft nicht in den Weltraum hinausgerissen werden oder einfach in diesen abtreiben. Alles nämlich, was ein Gewicht hat, und sei es noch so gering wie eben Gas, wird von der Erdanziehung angezogen und kann ihr nicht entweichen, folgedem die Erde auch die Gase festhält, auch wenn jedes einzelne Gasteilchen noch so winzig leicht ist, denn wenn etwas ein Gewicht hat, wiegt es ja etwas, und dieses unterliegt dann der Erdgravitation, folglich also durch diese auch die Atmosphäre resp. die Luft auf der Erde festgehalten wird. Die Atmosphäre wird aber nach aussen resp. gegen den Weltraum hin dünner, der ja die äusserste Ebene des Planeten vor dem Weltenraum ist, folglich nimmt die Anzahl und Dichte der Gas- resp. Luftteilchen nach aussen hin und damit mit der Höhe ab, folglich in Erdbodennähe sehr viele mehr sind als z.B. im Gebirge. In Erdnähe werden die Gas- resp. Luftteilchen, die sich höher oben befinden, immer dichter aneinandergedrängt, folgedem in tiefen Lagen mehr Sauerstoff angelagert ist. Die Atmosphäre wird aber nach aussen resp. gegen den Weltraum hin dünner, der ja die äusserste Ebene des Planeten vor dem Weltenraum ist, folglich nimmt die Anzahl und Dichte der Gas- resp.
