Und dieses Entgegenwirken erfolge eben dadurch, so erklärte Sfath, als er gegen Ende der 1940er Jahre mit mir nach Südamerika flog, dass durch die Sahara in Nordafrika – und zwar infolge dessen, dass in dieser Wüste Verhältnisse herrschen, durch die immer wieder gewaltige Sandstürme auftreten, die Hunderte Millionen Tonnen Sandstaub aufwirbeln – durch die Sturmwinde zwischen 30–40 Millionen Tonnen Sand in die Regenwälder in Südamerika transportiert und damit die Regenwaldböden wieder mit Makro- und Mikronährstoffen angereichert werden. Diese natürliche Transportweise resp. dieser Naturtransportmechanismus wird in bezug auf die griechische Mythologie nach dem Wind-Gott Aiolos ‹äolischer Transport› genannt. Doch auch hinsichtlich der normalen Wälder in Europa und der Urwälder in Asien und Afrika erklärte Sfath einiges, nämlich, dass auch deren Nährstoffe in den Böden nur durch äussere natürliche Hilfe regeneriert werden können, und zwar in Europa durch normale Regenfälle und Schnee, in Asien und Afrika durch grosse Regenfälle, wie in Form des Monsun.
