Any life form has to be dead someday. Death is a necessary part of its history. A life form is not only charaterized by its ability to live, but also its ability to die. Not only its ability to grow, but also its ability to wither. Not only its ability to become, but also its ability to fade away. Becoming something means no longer being something else. Becoming a woman means no longer being a girl. Becoming an old woman means no longer being a woman. Becoming a very old woman means no longer being an old woman. Becoming an archaelogical object means no longer being a very old woman. Becoming and fading away are two different processes describing each other. Becoming describes what fading away really is. Life describes what death really is. They constitute a dialectical unity, which provides an invisible ground for the development of Ego.

A human life form needs to think like that to be able to get the sense of his ongoing life and also the sense of his coming death. He can not get the sense of life without pondering his death, just as he can not get the sense of death by refusing to ponder about his life.
