Dies, wie die KI verantwortungslos auch bereits derart entwickelt ist, dass sie im Lügen und Betrügen perfekter geworden ist, als alles Lügen und Betrügen eines diesbezüglich passionierten Menschen, folglich dieser sich vor Scham grün und blau ärgert und im Boden verkriecht. In Switzerland, tyre and road abrasion particles are one of the largest sources of microplastics entering the environment. However, the chemical compounds contained in these particles and their effects are still largely unknown. To fill this knowledge gap, scientists at EPFL – École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne – and two other Swiss research institutes are conducting a study to investigate the toxicity of the compounds contained in tyre particles and their uptake by living organisms. The first phase of the study has just been completed.	In der Schweiz sind Reifen- und Strassenabriebpartikel eine der grössten Quellen für Mikroplastik, das in die Umwelt gelangt. They analysed eleven compounds and found that the solubilisation rate in gastrointestinal fluids ranges from 0.06% to 44.1% and that this rate can vary depending on food co-consumption. One particular compound they investigated was 6PPD-quinone (6PPD-Q), a toxic by-product of the oxidation of 6PPD, an antioxidant widely used in the tyre industry. When tyre particles containing 6PPD-Q are ingested together with amphipods, the amount of the compound dissolved in the fish intestine increases. However, in the case of other chemical compounds, joint ingestion has the opposite effect. Further experiments are currently underway to investigate the toxicity of numerous other substances in tyre particles. The aim of the study is to determine the bioavailability, bioaccumulation and toxicity of compounds from tyre particles and related additives. Once phase 1 is complete, the scientists will use phase 2 to investigate how the compounds are passed on in the food chain – for example, from insect larvae to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). The problems with tyres do not end there. Tyres are primarily made of natural and synthetic rubber, but they also contain hundreds of other components, often including steel and heavy metals such as copper, lead, cadmium and zinc. Tests conducted by a British company, Emissions Analytics, found that a car's tyres emit 1 trillion ultrafine particles per kilometre driven – that's 5 to 9 pounds of rubber per combustion engine car per year. The chemical was identified by a team of researchers led by scientists from Washington State University and the University of Washington who were trying to find out why coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) returning to spawn in streams in the Seattle area were dying in large numbers. California has taken initial steps to regulate the chemical, classifying tyres containing it as a 'priority product' last year, which requires manufacturers to seek and test for substitutes. Anne Forristall Luke, president and chief executive of the USTMA, said, "This will be the most effective and comprehensive examination of whether there is currently a safer alternative to 6PPD in tyres." However, Molden said there was a catch. "If they do not investigate, they cannot sell in the state of California," he said. California is also considering a request from the California Stormwater Quality Association to classify tyres containing the heavy metal zinc as a priority product and require manufacturers to seek an alternative. Due to their faster acceleration and greater torque, electric vehicles wear out their tyres faster and emit an estimated 20% more tyre particles than an average petrol-powered car. An open research question is whether 6PPD-q affects human beings and what health problems, if any, it might cause. In a study published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology Letters, high levels of the chemical were found in urine samples from a region of southern China, with the highest levels found in pregnant women.
